The Whimsical Sort

This book is the most refreshing read about productivity. Author Kendra Adachi approaches life management in a totally different way from the rest. She defines the Lazy Genius Way as "Embrace what matters, ditch what doesn't, and get stuff done."
I read this a few years ago, and I also love Kendra's podcast. She has helped me make better decisions about how I manage my time and my space. Most of all, the emphasis on compassion and grace for yourself is incredibly valuable.
The main emphasis of Lazy Genius is about getting really clear about what matters to you.
"When you care about something, you try to do it well," Kendra explains. "When you care about everything, you do nothing well, which then compels you to try even harder. Welcome to being tired."
Another favorite principle from the book that I stole to use with clients? Decide once. If you work with me, its one of the first things we go over. I'm huge on preventing decision fatigue. So I always ask clients if there's a few things we can "Decide once." For example, if you hate wearing pink, can I automatically put all pink clothes in the donation bin? One decision = 30 actions.
If you are looking at improving your productivity that is a 180 turn from the usual tech-bro-white-male-hustle culture-work harder perspective, give Lazy Genius a try.
